Children’s Activities

The mission statement of the Fort Buenaventura Mountain Men is very
clear about our desire to learn, share and educate all interested parties
concerning the ideals and skills of the fur trade era individuals. Children
along with the young men and women that attend rendezvous are a top
priority. They are our future and eager to learn as well as have a good
time. We are focused on helping them achieve those goals.
We will have the beloved “candy cannon” but with a new twist that will
be sure to please and excite the kids even more. We are building a candy
cannon capable of launching both candy and small teddy bears at the
same time that will be traded in for a small prize to the lucky little ones.
Organized kids games and crafts are scheduled each day of the
 Thursday:
o Kids games and crafts
o School day at the Rendezvous.
 Demonstrations
 Hands-on skills based training
 Mountain Man petting zoo
 Friday:
o Kids games and crafts
o Primitive fishing contest in demo area for age11 and under
o Candy cannon
 10:00 AM
 12:00 PM
 2:00 PM
 4:00 PM
o Kids black powder shoot – 12:00 PM
o All ages archery shoot
 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
o Kids trade blanket in demo area – 7:00 PM
o Stories around the fire in the demo area with hot chocolate,
cookies and popcorn made in the primitive popper – 8:00 PM
 Saturday:
o Kids Games and crafts
o Candy cannon
 10:00 AM
 12:00 PM
 2:00 PM
 4:00 PM
o All ages lance throw on the rifle range – 11:30 AM
o All ages knife and hawk throw – 12:00 PM
o Mountain kids run – 1:00 PM
o All ages areal archery – 3:00PM
o Archery range open all day for all ages
 Sunday:
o Easter egg hunt – 8:30 AM
o “Dinosaur eggs” will be hidden around the camp. When
discovered they will be broken open revealing prizes inside.
